WELCOME HOME
Each of us is called to reach out to our families and friends who have been away from the Church to welcome them home. As Lent approaches we are asking all our church members to look around the church for those who have been awhile missing and invite them back. Invitations are available today and we are asking each member to take at least 3 to give to those you want to encourage to return to God during Lent.

RED DRESS SUNDAY
Our annual Red Dress Sunday in partnership with St. Agnes Hospital takes place next Sunday, February 28. All our ladies are invited to wear red and join our parish nurses in the Anchorage after Mass to check blood pressures and share information focusing on women's health issues. Our thanks to our nurses Elaine Edmonds and Nia Wheeler for coordinating this event.

CENSUS UPDATE
St. Ann's has signed up to be a Questionnaire Assistance Center for the 2010 Census from mid-March to mid-April. The community surrounding our church was undercounted in the last census and we want to sure that doesn't happen again. For more information call 1-866-861-2010 or go to www.2010censusjobs.gov.

LENTEN RENEWAL
As the season of Lent begins we come together as a church family to journey through these 40 days. For your spiritual renewal we offer:

  • Lenten Reflection Booklets with daily reflections based on scripture readings are available from the ushers.
  • Thursday Evening Mass, Bible Study, Confessions take place in the Anchorage at 7 pm. The Sacrament of Penance if offered after Mass weekly.
  • Why Catholic? Lenten Series for adults and teens meet each week. Plan to attend one of the small groups listed below.
  • The Inter-parish Lenten Pilgrimage on the Fridays of Lent begins February 26, 6 pm, at St. Matthew Church. The evening includes Stations of the Cross and a time of prayer and conversation. St. Ann/St. Wenceslaus will host the Lenten Pilgrimage and stations on March 5.

FAST AND ABSTINENCE
Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence when we are asked to abstain from eating meat. In addition, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are fast days on which we take only one full meal and two other smaller meals as needed to maintain strength. These are general regulations for all Catholics, but each of us is also encouraged to take on our own practices of penance.

HAITI RELIEF COLLECTION
Our Haiti relief collection will conclude with our monthly collection for the poor on the first Sunday of March, March 6.  It will be added to what has already been donated for Haiti. A final total will be reported early in March. Thank you for your generosity.

ARCHBISHOP’S APPEAL

Today we will hear a message from Archbishop O’Brien about the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal.  On this commitment Sunday we invite everyone to make a pledge to the appeal.  If you have already replied to the mail appeal, your donation will be credited to our parish.  If you have not yet made a pledge we ask you to use the pledge card you receive today to do so.

JANUARY INCOME

Offertory income for the five Sundays of January came to $11,098. The budgeted amount for the same period was $10,166 leaving $932 over budget for the month. Thank you for your faithful support
